Church Brampton to Brixworth Country Park

Distance 4 miles

Description Anticlockwise

With the parking, refreshment and toilet facilities at Brixworth Country Park this makes an ideal starting point for a walk. Unfortunately at the moment there is no footpath to the roundabout on the A508 therefore you have to walk along the approach road.

Cross over the A508 taking the Brixworth road until reaching a bridleway turn left and continue straight ahead down this delightful track to cross over the Brampton Valley Way at the Merry Tom crossing. Brampton Valley Way is a linear path created on an old rail line between Northampton and Market Harborough.

At the southern end you will find the privately run Northampton and Lamport Railway Trust with a length of operational track Continue on the small road over the river crossing and turning left off this road after a small spinney.

Walk up hill across fields emerging onto the A5199, turn left and walk along the verge of this busy road for a short distance before turning right onto a small road signed to Brampton Hill Farm.

Turn right again at a crossing track and continue ahead keeping hedge on your left. At this intersection of tracks is a good place to pause and view the vista, on a good day. Turn left onto a good track and after a short distance arrive at Brampton Hill Farm.

Continue straight across farm road and down path first with the hedge on your right and then on your left eventually reaching the Holdenby Road. Turn left on this road and when you reach the triangle, where roads meet, join the path behind the telephone box.

On reaching the road crossover and take the lane leading to the entrance of golf course. Pass in front of the Northampton Golf Course entrance continuing in the same direction until you turn right to cross over a stile
